Makukuhan lesson feedback

Hi All,
I am currently preparing my p to yr 6 students for their Makukuhan incursion and have observed just how positively they have responded to the USB support material.

Using the audio track Ken Ken Bhil we played the notes of the saron ostinati on our tuned percussion:
Section A became:
CC F#F# DD F#F# ,
then we made our own 'kecak' sounds for Section B.

We discussed the form as binary or ternary and played the music accordingly.

Even year 6 students waggled their arms to the birdlike 'kecak' and for Preps the above activities were very accessible - though they only played their own choice of C or D on the xylophones.

What is working for you?

My students were struck by the men's facial expressions during the kecak demonstrations, which lead to discussion about how one performs and immerses themselves in the moment.
